The Gemas-Johor Baru double tracking and electrification project is expected to be completed by Oct 2022 despite a slight delay caused by the Movement Control Order MCO. The project which was delayed due to land acquisition issues along the route is now underway. Beyond allowing more trains to ply the route these upgrading works will enable diesel-powered trains to be replaced with faster electrical equivalents.
